Paddocks is a magical 17th century estate nestling in its own 60 acre private valley, surrounded by hills and woods, offering perfect peace, space and 360 degreee stunning views. You can hear the silence. The focus at Paddocks is on a real chill, with the peace, privacy and space to unwind.

About Paddocks Formerly part of The Bishops of Herefords estate Paddocks is now a holiday destination, unique conference venue and a working farm.
The main buildings are surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens and in part designed by Chelsea Gold Medallist Bunnie Guiness. Beyond the formal garden lies 60 acres of woodland, pastureland and orchards. Rare seclusion, yet only 2 miles from the historic town of Ross on Wye and 7 miles from Symonds Yat, famous for spectacular views and water activities.

Holiday Accomodation Choose between three self catering cottages or three Shepherd Huts. All the accommodation offers guests fantastic country views. Original features and 17th century character combines with outstanding levels of comfort. Every room is unique with attention to detail that will delight the most seasoned of travelers. Quality mattresses have been hand selected to ensure a home from home sleep, with starter pack tea and coffee facilities and toiletries provided.

Couples to Exclusive Venue Bookings Party size 2 to 20 are welcome, as further one bedroom en suite apartments are available to rent alongside the self-catering cottages and Shepherd Huts. Each additional studio apartment benefits from the exact same high standards, views and comfort.

The Coach House For group bookings of nine or more people an additional two storey coach house is integral to the booking. This 17th century coach house provides larger groups with a high specification communal kitchen with a large cooking range, dining room, large lounge area with squashy leather sofas and two wood burning stoves for roasting chestnuts in those chillier months.

Adults only Sorry kids. To secure the tranquility at paddocks we operate with an age limit of 14 years plus.

Private animal parkland . Animals abound, from Alpaca to Zebra, including Emu, Wallaby, Coati Mundi and Porcupine. Close encounters and constant entertainment for those inclined. Walk with Reindeer, bottle feed lambs and calves, watch Porcupine and Pygmy goats play. Guests are always welcome to join in the morning and evening feeds. A must visit destination for bird watchers and animal lovers.

On site activity. For active guests there is a spacious games room, formerly a cow parlour, with table tennis and table football and a basket ball hoop outdoors. Great walks exist on the doorstep, including rambling through our own grounds. The pool is lit, heated in season, and measures a healthy 5 metres by 11 metres. Lillo’s allow the less active to enjoy the water without the exercise! Guests are welcome to get involved in animal feeds and husbandry. Some guests even asked to join the team in bring the hay crop in!

Chill time. The poolside is an indulgence of sunbeds and outdoor dining furniture, capturing the sun all day so a great place to be sun drenched. The hot tub is positioned for great sunsets with a rich range of powerful massage jets. The African Thatch Hut is also a great place to sip a sun downer as the sunsets. Star gazing with minimal light pollution is also a must do.

Catering. Guests can buy free range rare breed meats and chicken, duck and goose eggs direct from the farm. Outdoor cooking is integral to the Shepherd hut experience but also an option for cottage guests. Paddocks burgers made from our own Dexter cattle herd and sausages and steaks can be bought to barbecue.

Special Occasion. Champagne and flowers can greet you on arrival or on the special day and cream teas can be served in your room or poolside. Just let us know your occasion and we will be happy to offer you options and ideas to ensure it really is special.

Where to eat? Choice again. In your cottage, poolside, picnic in a field, in the African thatch, or at one of the many tables positioned for views and peace. For larger groups the coach house boasts a unique dining room for up to 24 people complete with those stunning countryside views and wood burning stoves.

A plentiful supply of indoor and outdoor communal areas makes for the perfect balance between shared time and private time.
